My views on Destroyers in Clan Battles (test post)

Everyone wants to drive the BB in a clan battle... including me. However, inn the current Clan Battle event, only one BB is allowed. Who will it be in your clan? That is a hard one. New players and old players both want the job.

The thing is, your chances of surviving in a Battleship (BB) are greatly improved because of the hit points they have. That really isn't a good reason to be THE one that gets to drive the Battleship...

But lets take it a step back, why no one wants to drive the DD ... its because you get sunk so very quickly, no matter how experienced you are or whatever... the truth is, most make so many mistakes driving a destroyer that they should blame themselves rather the the ship type.

The first mistake they make is that as soon as they see the enemy, they fire their main battery and run away, usually with smoke screen for cover. Here is lesson one... a DD is a stealth ship. If you can see them doesn't mean they can see you... but as soon as you fire your guns, you WILL be detected. Popping smoke ensures it.

The art of mastering your destroyer is to NEVER fire your "main" guns... its should be your weapon of last resort, like if an enemy DD is about a mile away because then it doesn't matter any more.

Popping smoke should also be a last resort weapon... what is the point, in Clan Matches, the enemy knows you are somewhere in that smoke. Traveling at flank speed also negates any smoke you put down, just in case you didn't know...

In a Clan Battle, while driving a DD is stealth, speed and torpedoes.

The main job of a DD while in a Clan Battle is spotting, first and foremost and capping comes a close second.

The ability of a DD to be stealthy means it should take advantage of that fact and use Islands for cover.

Another mistake is to run at full speed in order to spot the enemy... seriously, it makes more sense to use your brains... take cover and LET THEM COME TO YOU.

If you ever get into a position to fire your torpedoes, then DO SO... but NOT if it means death. What I'm saying is... you round an island there is an undetected enemy DD... yeah, so fire your torps and run. DON'T stay to fight it out, because if that DD has you spotted, their whole team has. so just RUN!

While at it, the entire team, if they can, should provide fire support for the DD.

I'll post more on this topic later, but the last point, for now, is that Clan Battles involves team work. You are not alone, ever. Team work is VITAL if we are going to win. OK, so you may not get many kills while driving a DD (because of what I have said here, mainly) but the point is that if the team wins, YOU win... the TEAM shares the rewards... Don't go running off thinking you're the best player and you need to prove it... the fact is, NO ONE IS BEST... We are ALL good.... and if we play... and we play GOOD... then we WIN.

Playing as a team means we NEED to work as a team, that is how good teams are created.
